Right of Suffrage

Article V, Section 1 of The Philippine Constitution (1987) Suffrage may be exercised by all citizens of the Philippines….

My friend, are you a registered voter?  I do!  And I am excited to exercise my right of Suffrage – or in layman’s term, my right to vote.  I thought of this when I was arranging my calendar and noticed that today is the last day of the month (April 30th).  Which means tomorrow is a holiday (May 1 in my country is our Labor day.  Please click here for the holidays) and next month is our Election Season.  For this year, it will be on May 13th.

You now have the list.  The next step is get to know them.  Take time to research on their background, what they’re fighting for and their plans for our country.  You have to choose 12 Senators.  Do I have a list?  Yes but it is not yet complete.  One thing’s for sure, I will not vote for Nancy Binay & Juan Ponce “Jack” Enrile Jr!!!

To get the list of Local Candidates, COMELEC’s website can provide you with that.  Just click on here.  You should see this:

For party list, click on the box VIEW PARTY LISTS.  But if you want to know the list of candidates for Governor, Vice-Givernor, Congressman/Congresswoman and Board Members in your Province, click on the drop down and choose the REGION where you registered to vote.  In my case, I registered in Laguna which is a part of Region IV-A:

Easy, right?  By the way, Election day is a special non-working holiday.  So before you go to the mall or meet-up with anybody, let you voice be heard and do something historic that will change our country for the better by exercising your right to vote.

So my friend, who’s on your list?
